Design in Year 8

Now that you've moved up to year 8 you will utilise the knowledge learnt in year 7 in 3 new exciting schemes of work. Each with a focus on developing your skills both practically and theoretically further. A particular highlight is always the Jewellery module (created by our master jeweller Miss Selby), which allows you to make things you may only have dreamt of.

01 Jewellery

Through this Scheme of Work you will develop a multitude of practical metalwork techniques to produce some beautiful jewellery whilst developing your knowledge of metals and production methods. Fun filled and fast paced!

02 User Centered Design

A focus on the users needs, wants and desires is key to any successful design. During this terms work you will gain and understanding of prototyping techniques  and then apply these and your designing skills to address set challenges.

03 CAD & Concept Communication

To be a modern designer, an understanding of computer based design programs is vital. Through this project you will develop CAD skills, resulting in you being able to model and represent any concept. You will then focus on how to best present these and finish with gaining and understanding of how electronic programming plays an important role into today's products.
