Design in Year 7

For many of you this will be the first time you have studied Design but we know with certainty that you will enjoy it. Below you will find the 3 different projects you will be studying this year and direct links to the content of the lessons in case you missed it or want to have another look.

01 Core Design Skills

During an 10 week period we will be tackling lots of smaller projects to build you confidence in the workshop working with hand tools and some machinery, develop your visual communication skills and start to consider what 'Good Design' is.

Engineering Sketch

02 Engineering

Your teacher will be teaching you some of the core fundamentals of engineering and then setting practical challenges to test your understanding. These will be challenges when you will also need to work in teams to see if you can win!

03 CAD / CAM Fundamentals

During this project you will learn the fundamental skills of computer aided design using 3D cad software (Onshape), you will learn a bit about new technologies and challenge yourself to design and 3D print a secret object as a team.
